Two Week Cleanse

The liver is responsible for the breakdown of proteins, fats and carbohydrates as well as eliminating toxins. It is the liver that converts excess glucose into fat and when energy is required fat into glucose, fats into hormones, and fats into cholesterol. Consequently, when the liver’s function is compromised these processes are not preformed correctly resulting in poor digestion, hormone imbalances, and high cholesterol.
If the liver cannot eliminate toxic materials, it stores them in adipose (fat) tissue. This is the cause of many cleansing symptoms - as the fat in the body is used for energy the toxins are released into the blood stream. It is for this reason we must remember to strengthen, repair and rebuild our systems. This is done by introducing protein on the second day of the cleanse and daily supplementation, as below:
Daily Supplements:
Green Barley or Green Barley Plus Powder:
2 teaspoons twice daily
Bioactive Fibre Formula - 1 capsule twice daily
Phytosan - 2 capsules twice daily
Cleansing Symptoms:
Everyone does not experience cleansing symptoms. However, if symptoms do occur, do not be alarmed. They are only due to the toxins being released by the system and the Bioactive Fibre Formula will ensure that they are expelled and not reabsorbed.
Symptoms may include:
Fever, Headaches, Aches and pains, Fatigue, Gas, Irritability,
Nausea, Constipation, Diarrhoea, Body odour.
Please note that if your blood sugar levels drop at any time during the day, make sure you have either a piece of fruit or a drink of fruit juice.
An indication of low blood sugar may include:
Nausea, Headaches, Light headedness, Dizziness
EVERY DAY AT LEAST 8 GLASSES OF WATER MUST BE CONSUMED.(You may also consume herbal teas. However, they must be caffeine free.)
You Must Not Consume:
Processed foods, Packaged foods, Sugar, Wheat, Tinted Foods, Sauces, Dairy, Meats
Suggested Flavourings:
Sea salt (not table salt), Tamari sauce, Kelp, Miso, Olive oil, Lemon juice, Garlic, PepperChilli, Cayenne, Ginger, Cumin, Coriander, Apple, Cider Vinegar, Balsamic vinegar
Suggested Recipe for Vegetable Soup:
You may choose some or all of the following vegetables:
Leeks, Celery, Onion, Broccoli, Courgettes, Peas, Swede, Brussel Sprouts, Carrots, Peppers, Potatoes, Corn, Cabbage, Mushrooms, Pumpkin
Method:
Wash and chop all the vegetables. Heat the pan, add the olive oil and stir fry the onions, garlic or any of the other suggested flavourings. Add the vegetables and cover with water. Put on the stove and bring to the boil. Then simmer over a medium heat until the vegetables are well done. You may wish to blend the soup, but do not discard any of the fluids as they are high in minerals.
Day 1
On day one, fruits, vegetables and salads are the only foods to be consumed. You must avoid all dairy, meat and wheat products.
Breakfast:
On rising, make a drink from vegetable juices, fruit juices or just water, and mix in SAFE’s Green Barley Powder. Bioactive Fibre Formula and Phytosan may be taken at the same time
You may also have any fresh fruits of your choice, but try to ensure they are in season
Mid morning:
A piece of fresh fruit may be consumed
Lunch:
Salad – This must include plenty of green leafy vegetables along with any other salad vegetables. (Examples of green leafy vegetables include watercress, lettuce such as rocket and cos etc., & mustard greens). Suggested extras are: beetroot, carrots, mushrooms, spring onions, etc. One cup of vegetable soup (see recipe attached)
Mid afternoon:
Second intake of daily supplements
A piece of fruit or raw vegetables
Vegetable sticks are a tasty snack
Dinner:
Steamed vegetables or a raw salad (a dressing can be made from the suggested flavourings)
One cup of vegetable soup
*ONLY FRUITS AND VEGETABLES ON THE FIRST DAY*
Days 2 through to 7
Now that the toxins have started to move and are being expelled from the system, we need to look at repair and rebuilding.
Along with the fruits, vegetables and soup, you may now incorporate non-animal protein foods to your daily routine (as discussed on day one). However, towards the end of the week you may also add fresh fish to the menu, but it must be grilled, steamed or oven baked.
Suggested non-animal protein foods are as follows:
Almond meal, Almond milk, Linseed meal, Tahini, Legumes, Amaranth
Chickpeas, Miso, Tofu, Hommus, LSA (linseed, sunflower and almond) , Lentils
You may wish to make nut butter (a great alternative to normal butter and high in protein), by putting your favourite nuts into a blender and adding a small amount of water. Blend while continuing to add water until it is the consistency you like and spread on either rice or corn cakes. This makes an ideal snack or lunch alternative.
Also allowed:
Rice cakes, Corn cakes, Corn puffs, Brown rice.
Please note:
It is important to remember that this is a cleanse so try not to overeat. It is wise to eat small amounts often.
Days 8 through to 15
Now that you have a squeaky clean intestinal system, it is time to put back the friendly bacteria. This is essential not only to absorb nutrients better, but also vital for hormone balance, and immune function.
Microfood Lactobacillus........................2 teaspoons three times daily
