Why have a crystal Salt Lamp? How do they work?

Salt Crystal Lamps are extremely beneficial for us, and our environment, because they are natural negative ionisers and energy amplifiers. When the gentle heat from the bulb warms the crystal salt, they emit a negative electrical charge, thus ionizing our atmosphere and interacting with our own bioenergetic field, or aura. This works on the principle of pyroelectricity, which is the electrical charge created when certain ionic minerals are subjected to heat. (Pyro means fire in Greek). Piezoelectricity is the electrical charge created when minerals are subjected to pressure, so in theory we can also generate this by simply by being near, or touching the crystal. They are ionic (negatively charged) because, like all good crystals, they have been subjected to huge pressure and heat inside the Earth.

As the heat from the bulb warms the salt crystal, negative ions are released, which is what creates the tremendously subtle, but powerful effect. All ‘negative’ energies (i.e. positively charged ions) are removed from the surrounding air. Positive ions are definitely NOT positive for humans or animals, as they create oxidization, which ultimately leads to our deterioration of mind and body and hastens the ageing effect.

Negative ions, on the other hand, are always found in natural environments, such as a forest, beach, mountain range or anywhere where there is fresh air and an abundance of the 4 basic elements, earth, air, fire and water, all of which are life enhancing. These salt lamps effectively recreate all these 4 elements, giving us the ‘fifth element’, which it was said in ancient times that salt is anyway!

Salt is as fundamental to our life as water, without it we would not exist. When we refer to salt in this text, we are obviously referring to the pure, natural unadulterated mineralized, organic, ionic crystal salt that comes from the Himalayan region, in an associated range adjacent to these mighty mountains, simply called, ‘The Salt Mountains’. “Table” salt that we are used to seeing is basically just sodium Chloride, with chemical additives, an industrial by product. Most salt is used for its prized minerals in all types of industrial manufacture, and we are then given what they do not use, basically the waste, with the added ‘bonus’ of some extra chemicals! This salt is therefore not good for us, hence why we were always told to “take it easy on the salt!”

The human body is made primarily of water and salt and natural salt contains all elements of which the human body is made, or the Salt ’turns on’ the elements which are in our body, via the ionic charge. The word salt comes from the Latin term ‘Sal’, which in turn comes from the word ‘Sol’. This is connected with Solé which literally means “liquid sunshine”. The Solé of the ancient oceans is where all life on Earth sprang hundreds of millions of years ago and from where humans were created. The fluids in which a child lives while growing in a mother’s womb is the same as sole, or brine solution. We are attracted to the current oceans, because it resonates with our primal being and for the negative ions the sea provides. We are 75-80% water, but we are 98-99% water AND this mineral salt!
